Once again, Groupmuse is expanding its coop family, and inviting performing musicians to join the team as Musician-Owners. Check out this short video we made recently, and see below for more details about how you can apply and what you can expect! The deadline to apply for the 2nd cohort is Friday, December 16th, 2022.

This time, we are primarily looking for musicians who identify as Black, Brown, and/or people of color, as well as musicians who are rooted in different genres of music other than European Classical music to join the Groupmuse Musician Coop!

If you’re interested, please fill out this interest form. This second cohort will still be relatively small (~20 members) and we’d like to stay focused right now on people who have bandwidth to contribute to the growth of the community/company. We would ask you, as a new Musician-Owner, to help Groupmuse continue growing in your community: either by recruiting a new host, performing for a new venue, OR working with a member of the Groupmuse Worker-Owners to find new hosts or venues in your community. . We also hope that new members will be able to attend local Circle gatherings (what we call groupmeets) at least every other month to help build their community’s art scene directly.

Some of the benefits of being a Musician-Owner

  • Make collective decisions about how your local Groupmuse community builds and spends its shared resources.
  • Eligible for fiscal sponsorship through our 501(c)(3), Groupmuse Foundation
  • Eligible for project funding through our proposal process
  • Special access to admin backend on the website
  • Musician-Owner-only channels on Discord
  • Free Supermuser membership
  • Direct access to staff, the Musician Council, and other Owners for support with your work
  • Join a local Circle of Musician-Owners in your area

Minimum requirements

  • Watch the pre-recorded onboarding sessions
  • Recruit and perform for one new groupmuse host/venue when you first join the coop OR work with a member of the Groupmuse Worker-Owners to perform at a host’s place that hasn’t hosted for a while
  • Play at least 2 groupmuses per year

For this cohort, the Groupmuse Musician Coop is looking for

  • Non-classical musicians and diverse demographic to join
  • Musicians passionate about performing a number of groupmuses in their community (community builders)
  • Cultivating cross-cultural connections in your community
  • People eager to help source additional funding for the company

We hope you can join us in growing our community of musicians!

If you’re interested, please fill out this interest form today!
